What is MOVE?

This year’s MOVE Conference is designed to get students out of their seats and includes two days at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, GA. All three sessions will be at Wild Adventures’ large, covered venue and our guests will get out of their seats throughout the day and experience the park. MOVE Conference is an evangelistic student conference sponsored by the Next Gen office of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board.

The first 2,000 people in line for each session will have covered seating. The remaining seats are uncovered.

Jeff currently serves on the Student Leadership University Team as the Chief Strategic Officer.  Jeff is nationally known as an urban ministry pioneer, communicator, innovator, and mentor. For 23 years, Jeff has served as Pastor of Youth Development at Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, where he oversaw all of the children, student, and young adult programming and then he transitioned to the role of Executive Pastor.  Jeff is also the Founder of FrontLine Urban Resources, Inc., which is an organization that provides resources and trainings to help leaders engage an evolving generation of families as well as teaching them how to redefine and reshape their traditional views of urban ministry and urban culture.

Jeff received his undergraduate education from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Indiana Wesleyan Seminary in Marion, Indiana, and his PhD in Organizational Leadership from Southeastern University.

Jeff has produced several resources designed to empower and equip youth ministry leaders, parents, and students in a variety of contexts and environments. He is the author of Urban Ministry from Start to Finish, co-author of Everybody’s UrbanUrban LIVE curriculum, The Skinny on Communication, and 99 Things Every Guy Should Know. He is a writer in the Simple Truth Bible and a contributor in Reggie Joiner’s Creating a Lead Small Culture book.

Jeff enjoys doing life with his wife Quovadis and three boys, Jeffrey, Christopher, and Cameron.

Volunteering at Move

As we prepare to minister to thousands of students at Move Conference, our volunteer teams are as important as ever. All of our volunteers are screened, background checked, and trained in MinistrySafe.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. At least 18 years old as of Dec 1, 2024.
  2. Available to serve on Dec. 29 and 30th (8:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.) 
  3. Available to provide your own transportation
  4. Willing to complete a background check and online training by November 8.

If you meet the criteria above, we would love to have you on our volunteer team.

As a volunteer, you will not need to pay for park admission. And we will cover some of your meals for serving (meals to be determined, your team leader will know). Like last year, you will need to cover your lodging. Check with team leader and those you know to see if you can group up and share a room. 

Volunteer Process

  1. Complete the online form to the right to give us your basic contact information.
  2. Complete our Child Protection Background Check no later than Nov 9!
  3. AFTER submitting your background check, keep your eyes out for an email inviting you to participate in an online training course for protecting children through MinistrySafe.org. Complete the course as instructed.
  4. Wait for your confirmation email confirming your clearance, and giving instructions for volunteering.
  5. Arrive for volunteer training at 8:30 a.m. on Dec, 29, 2024 as instructed in the final email.
